November Spirit Project!

Toys for Tots

Our November spirit project is the Firefighters’ Toy Program.  Students are asked to bring a NEW toy to donate to the toy program, which will benefit local children during the month of November.  Each class will walk to the fire station on Saron Drive late in the month and students will have the opportunity to present their toys to the firefighters!  This is the fourth year of participation for VPE. Students may bring in their toys beginning November 11th.  Toys will be kept in the classrooms until we walk to the fire station! No stuffed animals please.

Apple Pie!

We made apple pie!

First we read a book about how to make apple pie.  Then, we decide to make our own pie! Here is what we did:

Look at our fun aprons!

First we cut the apples carefully!

Next, we mixed the apples, cinnamon, and sugar.

Then, we patted out our biscuit dough.
Next, we pressed our pies closed.

Finally, we enjoyed our pie! Yum!

ACCESS testing has begun!

Students who are currently in ELL classes, students who have previously been in ELL classes, and students who were tested for ELL but did not need extra support in English will be tested. This test will help your child show their English proficiency in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
I will be testing all ELL students through the end of this week.  Due to the testing schedule, we will not have regular ELL classes until I have completed all of the testing.  The scores from the ACCESS test will be sent home in the spring. Please encourage your child to do their very best!  If you have any questions, please let me know! Thanks for your help in encouraging your child!
