Baby Shower

This community project is focusing on babies, toddlers, and moms-to-be. Our donation will be sent to several  local centers helping young moms and children. Please bring in items such as; diapers, wipes, bottles, new or gently used clothing and baby equipment. Items may be placed in the bins in the front foyer starting April 7 – April 30.

March Spirit Project

Soles4Souls

The local non-profit organization AreUKind.org, founded by two Lexington kids, Josh and Jacob Griffin are on a mission to collect 25,000 pairs of shoes for the global non-profit Soles4Souls. Soles4Souls distributes new and used shoes to developing nations and disaster stricken areas all around the world in an effort to help break the cycle of poverty. Veterans Park will be hosting the collection efforts here and ask that you clean out your closets and bring in all of your used and no longer worn shoes any day between March 3 – March 28, any size, any kind and in any condition. There will be a box located outside Mrs. Fox’s Office where you can deposit your shoes each day. There are 300 million children worldwide who live without shoes, so together we can help to make a big difference.

Book Exchange

The book exchange is a great way for VPE students to get a new book and help those without books at the same time.  Students may bring in books for the book exchange and turn them in to volunteers in the foyer from February 10-February 12 from 7:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m.  We will choose books the following week during library classes.  For every two books they bring in, one can be chosen to take home and one will be donated to the International Book Project.

Working Hard!

Our ELL students are working hard on their ACCESS tests!  This test lets students show how much English they have learned! I hope to be finished with testing by the end of next week and then we will be back on our regular ELL schedule. Keep working hard!

February Spirit Project!

This month we will be collecting donations for the Lexington Humane Society. Any of the following items may be donated in the blue tub by Mrs. Fox’s office from February 3-28.

Greatest Needs Are:
    Canned wet cat and dog food
    Pee pads for Spay’sTheWay
    Gas cards
    High-grade AAA Batteries
    Timothy hay/Alfalfa for small animals
    HE (High Efficiency) laundry detergent
    Copy paper
    Bleach (liquid or powder)
    Rain Barrels
    Gently used professional DSLR cameras, with lens(es).

Due to our limited space and limited laundry facilities the only linens we can accept are towels, flat sheets, and pillowcases. 

*All LHS animals are fed a consistent, nutritious diet of Science Diet brand food. LHS is a Hill’s Food, Shelter & Love™ Partner and feeds Science Diet brand exclusively.

Bubbles!

We read a fun book titled Bubbles! Then, we created bubbles of our own! 

December Spirit Project

Our December community service project is our annual “Giving Tree”.   Join me in donating used coats, as well as new hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves. Donations can be placed in the blue bin in the foyer. All Items will be donated to Hart’s Coat Crusade for distribution to the needy in our community.  Thanks for helping make winter a little warmer for those in need!
